The 15 credit Horticulture Certificate Program provides a body of practical courses in which students learn basic information about plants, their environmental requirements, and interactions with pests. For students seeking employment in horticulture, this Certificate will provide the edge needed for securing a position in the third largest business in our state. People working in entry level positions in the horticulture business will improve their job performance and thereby improve their chances for advancement. Business managers working in horticulture will learn how to improve the biological success of their venture.
In addition, the Certificate Program can be used as the concentration for an Associate degree, or as a Minor Concentration for a Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) degree.
Students considering this 15 credit certificate program should meet with an advisor in the School of Continuing Education.

Certificate programs at Eastern Connecticut State University are designed for individuals who seek to concentrate on a specific area of study in a shorter period of time than would be required to obtain a degree. All courses in a Certificate program are credit courses. When you apply for admission to a Certificate program at Eastern, you will begin an academic career at Eastern and will be able to request official transcripts of your coursework. Courses taken for a Certificate can serve as building blocks for a degree program at a later date (for students who apply and are accepted into the program).
For admission into a Certificate program you need only be a high school graduate or have your GED. For students who may have credit from another college or even a degree in another field, one course may be transferred to Eastern (subject to approval).
If you have questions or need help selecting courses, please, make an appointment with one of our advisors. Call (860) 465-5125 to schedule an appointment today or email cewebmail.easternct.edu
