Cap and Gown

Cap and Gown

Commencement is a joyous but dignified occasion. The University’s policy is that all graduates participating in the ceremony must wear an approved cap and gown and only *official honors cords may be worn. Personal adornments (e.g., leis, stoles, or messages on gowns) are not consistent with the spirit of the graduation ceremony. Graduates who appear at the Commencement lineup with unapproved adornment will be asked by student or faculty marshals to remove it. Faculty marshals have the authority to prevent anyone in unapproved adornment from processing.

  • All seniors participating in Commencement Exercises must purchase a cap and gown.
  • To purchase your cap and gown please visit the Eastern Bookstore (located in the Student Center). Senior Day in the Bookstore will be April 17, which will be the first day regalia will be available to purchase.
  • Seniors who would prefer to have their caps and gowns shipped to them via UPS may visit and order online.
  • Also available at the Bookstore are gold honor cords, which may be purchased by eligible students (graduating with cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher), and worn as part of the academic regalia on Commencement Day.
