Attendees with Special Needs
The XL Center has a number of services for people with special needs, including those with hearing impairments, visual impairments, and physical disabilities. Those services include wheelchair accessibility, elevators, and sign language interpreters for the Commencement program.
Individuals with physical disabilities should use the Trumbull Street entrance. Upon arriving and going through security at the gate they will be directed to the correct seating location. An arena map shows the location of accessible seating. The map indicates three (3) sections of handicapped seating available on a “first come, first seated” basis.
The XL Center does not have loaner wheelchairs so people needing a wheelchair must bring their own. Due to the large number of guests requiring this special seating, only one non-handicapped guest will be able to accompany handicapped guests in this area. To the left and right of these designated sections is additional wheelchair parking for guests who do not mind sitting alone during the ceremony.
