Research

The research mission of the Center for Early Childhood Education is to conduct original, methodological studies of young children that are highly innovative in the questions they asks, the methods they use, and their underlying theoretical frameworks. Our research produces findings that have clear and significant implications for professional practice and the support of young children and their families.

A part of our mission is to provide undergraduate students with opportunities to engage in authentic research projects that contribute to our understanding of young children and how they learn and develop. Our faculty scholars mentor students in carrying out all steps of scientific inquiry, including data collection, interpretation of results, and presentation and publication of findings.

Research investigators in the center have published extensively in national and international journals, have presented their work at national and international conferences, and have influenced professional practice around the world.
