To the Library Website

Welcome to the website of the J. Eugene Smith Library at Eastern Connecticut State University. We hope that you will find these pages full of information and easy to use.

Our intent is to use these pages to provide: (1) information about our library, (2) a gateway to the library online catalog (CONSULS, the Connecticut State University Library System) and the rich electronic resources (including full-text, full image and multimedia) in our database pages and reference links. These pages are constantly evolving and can be called a work in progress, refined by the library’s webmaster and a team of creative and enthusiastic staff and student assistants. We hope you find the easy access and rich graphics of these pages an enjoyable experience.

Please feel free to contact me with your comments, ideas or suggestions concerning the library or its services.

Library Orientation for BGS/Part-time Students

All students are strongly encouraged to participate in a Library Orientation within their first semester at Eastern.  Not only is the library central to research and scholarship for all academic courses at Eastern, but our data has shown that students who have completed the Library Orientation and know how to access its resources as a result are more likely to earn their degrees than students who do not complete it.  Please set aside time to complete this self-paced online orientation to better ensure your academic success at Eastern.  There is a quiz that you should take at the end of the orientation—it is ungraded, but will help you know what material you need to review more carefully, and help the library and CSEL monitor students’ progress.
