Eastern Connecticut State University has offered
a Personal and Professional Development Program since the fall of
1993. The Office of Professional Development provides hands-on training
for students who understand the value of expanding their skills. Our
office is committed to providing the highest quality education available
at an affordable price. We offer courses designed to meet your personal
and professional needs, including career-track certificate programs.
The Office of Professional Development, which
administers the Personal and Professional Development courses at Eastern,
is located in Shafer Hall, Room 101A on South Campus (Willimantic) .
Cancellations
If it is necessary to cancel a course, every effort will be made to
inform each registered person via telephone, e-mail, or mail. It is
important to list a day telephone number on your registration form.
If a single class meeting is canceled for any reason, every attempt
will be made to notify enrolled students. If there is a question concerning
cancellation of a course, please call (860) 465-5125. Weather cancellations
are indicated on the ECSU Weather Hotline at (860) 465-4444.
CEUs
Now you can earn your Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) when taking
any of our Office of Professional Development courses! The charge
for CEUs depends on the length of the course. Payment for CEUs is required at the time of registration. CEU fees will be added to their final course registration fee. For example, if a course
is 6 hours long students will receive .6 CEUs. The pricing for CEUs
is:
- 1-10 hours = $30
- 11-20 hours = $60
- 21-30 hours = $90
- 31-40 hours = $120
- 41-50 hours = $150
Please, note:
- 1-10 hours = .1 to 1 CEUs
- 11-20 hours = 1.1 to 2 CEUs
- 21-30 hours = 2.1 to 3 CEUs
- 31-40 hours = 3.1 to 4 CEUs
- 41-50 hours = 4.1 to 5 CEUs
Corporate Discount
Attention corporate owners and managers! Send your employees to class
and you will not only get highly skilled employees, but money back
in your pocket. Companies will receive a 10% discount for 3 or more
employees and a 20% discount for 10 or more employees for non-credit
courses.
Course Textbooks
If the course description indicates that a textbook is required, please
call the ECSU Bookstore at (860) 465-5283, with the code number. The
bookstore will be able to tell you book prices and availability. If
your course requires additional supplies, these may be available in
the bookstore or through a recommended vendor.
Discounts
Register and pre-pay for all three Web Design Certification courses
or all eight (8) Graphic Design Certification courses and receive
a 10% discount. Please note: students who withdraw from a course which
is part of a discounted certification program will receive a refund
minus the discount applied.
Interested in Teaching?
If you are interested in teaching a professional development course
at Eastern, please give us a call. The Office of Professional Development
is always open to ideas for courses and finding new instructors to
teach them. If you have an idea for a course or would like to pursue
your desire to teach, please call (860) 465-5125 to inquire about
teaching opportunities and our noncredit program.
Parking
Finding a parking place on campus can be difficult; please try to
leave adequate time to locate a space. Staff, faculty and student
parking lots are available evenings and on weekends for Professional
Development students. However, a parking permit is required. Permits
can be obtained at the University Police Department, located at the
main entrance to the campus (Willimantic). When applying for a permit please brings
proofs of insurance and registration.
The University Police Department
is open 24 hours, seven days a week. Permits can be obtained at any
time. If you are taking more than one course, please state this to
the dispatcher so they can issue a permit that will cover the entire
time period in which you will require one. It will only be good for
the duration of your course(s). If you do not get your parking permit
by the time class is due to start, please stop by the campus police
office and get a temporary permit. Please park only in designated
parking areas. Contact campus police directly with any parking concerns
at (860) 465-5310. A parking lot map is available for designated lots
and areas.
Refunds
100% refund will be issued for courses canceled due to low enrollment.
Requests for refunds because of withdrawal will be granted up to three
(3) days prior to the start of the class. Refunds will be issued from
the ECSU Cashier's Office and may take four (4) to six (6) weeks.
