Volunteer Opportunities Fall 2018

COMMUNITY PROGRAM OPPORTUNITIES

The CCE provides four categories of volunteer programming: 

CHILDREN & YOUTH IN SCHOOL: these programs encompass elementary school through high school with youth ages 4-18; program specifics vary from recreational recess programs to early reading success to tutoring and mentoring for academic and healthy role modeling. They are:

  • North Windham Elementary Recess Program
  • Windham Middle School In-School Tutorial
  • Windham High School ESL (English as a Second Language)
  • United Way Readers at Natchaug School
  • Windham Technical High School Tutoring
  • Ashford School Mentoring

CHILDREN & YOUTH AFTERSCHOOL: Eastern students have the opportunity to learn from and contribute to the education and well-being of local youth ages 4 to 18 after school in the following programs: 

  • Charles H. Barrows STEM Magnet School
  • Natchaug Elementary School
  • North Windham Elementary School
  • Sweeney Elementary School
  • Windham Center Elementary School
  • Collegiate Health Service Corps (multiple sites, please check eWeb)
  • Windham Middle School After School Program
  • Puentes al Futuro / Bridges to the Future
  • Journey House at Natchaug Hospital
  • Nutmeg Big Brothers/Big Sisters
  • Windham Middle School Juvenile Review Board Mentoring
  • EASTCONN English as a Second Language childrens’ activities

ADULT PROGRAMS: programs in which Eastern students have the opportunity to learn from and contribute to the education and well-being of adults:

  • Beckish Senior Center
  • Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR)
  • Covenant Soup Kitchen
  • No Freeze Hospitality Center
  • St. Joseph’s Senior Living Center
  • Vanderman Place

PRESCHOOL: programs in which Eastern students have the opportunity to learn from and contribute to the education and well-being of preschool-aged children.

  • Jumpstart
  • MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) childrens’ activities
