Day of Giving Food Drives

Saturday, October 31 & Sunday, November 1st

During the four weekends leading up to the Day of Giving Community Celebration, student volunteers will solicit monetary and food donations at local grocery stores. These donations will be brought to the Covenant Soup Kitchen, Northeast Food Collaborative, and Catholic Charities. REGISTER HERE

Walk for Warmth to benefit WAIM

Sunday, November 22nd
Downtown Willimantic

Every year WAIM (Windham Area Interfaith Ministry) hosts the Walk for Warmth to raise funds for their Energy Assistance Program. People are asked to either form a team or join a team. Each walker is asked to raise a minimum of $20.00. Additionally, volunteers are needed to help set-up, take-down, and play games with kids at the event. REGISTER HERE

CT Mobile Food Bank

Tuesday, November 24th
First Congregational Church, 199 Valley Street

Connecticut Food Bank’s Mobile Food Pantry is located at the First Congregational Church of Willimantic. The Mobile Food Pantry Program is an outreach program designed to bring food directly to neighborhoods where low income people lack access to food assistance programs or supplement the efforts of existing food assistance programs that cannot provide enough food to meet the growing need. Eastern volunteers assist with food distribution on the 4th Tuesday of each month (September 22nd, October 27th and November 24th). The group will depart from the CCE House at 12:30 PM. The site is located within walking distance from campus. REGISTER HERE

Day of Giving Community Celebration

Wednesday, November 25th
Hurley Hall

On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Eastern will provide its 9th annual Thanksgiving meal in Hurley Hall to community members who would otherwise go without a Thanksgiving meal. Volunteers help with transportation, greeting guests, transporting food from the kitchen, serving, and clean up. Volunteers must be able to stay for the entire time. Note that only residents living in residence halls with kitchens may participate as residence halls close the night before for the holiday and no food services are available. REGISTER HERE


Donor Recruitment for December Blood Drive

Monday, November 23th & Tuesday, November 24th
Monday, December 1st & Tuesday, December 2nd
Multiple, On-Campus Locations

The purpose of these events is to recruit people to donate blood for the blood drive on December 7th and 8th. Shifts, one hour or longer, are available between 10am and 2pm. Location of recruitment tables are: November 23rd and 24th in Webb Lobby; December 1st in the Science Building; and December 2nd in the Student Center.  REGISTER HERE

December Blood Drive

Volunteers are needed during the blood drive to facilitate registration, set up and break down the event and any other tasks that help the event run smoothly. Volunteers can register for various shifts between 10am and 6pm. REGISTER HERE
