Kathy Regan-Pyne ’79

Kathy Regan-Pyne is one of nine elected members of the tribal council of the Mohegan Tribal Nation.  Her career has spanned positions in education, human resources and career development. A former professional basketball player, she is also a member of the Connecticut Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.

Ellen Lang ’81

Ellen Lang has been a registered nurse for more than 35 years, and is currently the Medical Advocacy Consultant for the Center for Medicare Advocacy. She has been the president of Eastern’s Alumni Association twice, and in 2003 she received the Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award. In 2015, she and her husband, Dr. James Watson, received the ECSU Foundation’s Distinguished Donor Award. “Eastern has a very special place in my heart,” she said. “Even though I was a non-traditional student, Eastern still had a significant impact on my life. It has enabled my successful career choices.”


Wendy Ernst ’93

Wendy Ernst has worked as a veterinarian since receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University in 2001. As the principal of Kirby Veterinary Hospital, she offers small animal general medicine and surgery, as well as canine reproduction services. She is a member of the Society for Theriogenology, a group of veterinarians dedicated to animal reproduction.


Carla Goodwin ’69

During much of her career as a psychologist with a private practice, Carla Goodwin was also a forensic psychologist who played a major role in shaping public policy in domestic abuse, child abuse/neglect and other public interest concerns. She now spends half the year in Naples, FL, where she provides counseling services part time and serves as a crisis interventionist. The other part of the year, she provides counseling and consulting services in Easton, MA.

Wendy Daly ’75

Recognized in her hometown of Louisville, KY, as one of its leading pediatricians, Wendy Daly is president/CEO and one of four physicians at Brownsboro Park Pediatrics. She is also an associate professor of clinical pediatrics at the University of Louisville.


Kathleen Kennedy ’74

Since 2006, Kathleen Kennedy has been with UBS Financial Services, most recently as Head of Professional Recruiting–Americas. She manages 50 recruitment and human resources professionals for the international investment and financial services giant. Kennedy has held prior positions at New York University, Merrill Lynch and Virgin Mobile.

Janice Deskus ’88

Currently the group vice president of human resources at Medtronic, Janice Deskus previously managed human resources programs for insurance giants Aetna and Cigna. Over the course of her career she has implemented programs that have positively impacted more than 100,000 workers around the globe.


Alice DiFrancesco ’15

DiFrancesco is studying anesthesiology at UCONN’s School of Medicine. “I encourage every Eastern student to take advantage of research opportunities,” she said. “It was through this that I was able to strengthen my critical thinking and problem solving skills, and prepare for my future as a physician.”
