Dean’s Message

Welcome to the School of Arts and Sciences! Our fourteen departments and twenty-two majors (including five interdisciplinary programs) provide 80% of the courses in the Liberal Arts Curriculum, and contribute to 75% of the majors, minors and interdisciplinary programs offered at Eastern. We pride ourselves in the many opportunities available for our students in research and creative activity on campus and throughout New England.

We encourage ethical and intellectual development with a global perspective, and critical thinking coupled with excellent communication skills. Our curriculum focuses on integrating theory with practical experience in a variety of learning opportunities in Connecticut and abroad. As a result, our students graduate prepared to provide leadership in solving current and future societal problems.

I invite you to browse these pages to discover the many academic and physical resources that support our students in their four-year career development in and out of the classroom, and facilitate their academic journey toward graduation.

For questions regarding Faculty/Student Support issues, contact Associate Dean Amy Coffey. For overall information, please contact: Pat Chaves.
