Alex Gibney Alex Gibney is an Academy Award-winning director and producer. In 2008, he won the Best Documentary Feature Oscar for “Taxi to the Dark Side,” a documentary film that examines U.S. interrogation practices of prisoners in Afghanistan, Iraq and Guantanamo Bay, through the investigation into the death of an Afghan taxi driver. He also served as executive producer for the Iraqi war documentary “No End in Sight” (2007). Gibney’s scathing look at corporate greed gone wild, “Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room,” netted an Oscar nomination in 2005. Gibney served as writer-producer on “The Pacific Century,” which won the News and Documentary Emmy for Outstanding Historical Program in 1992. His latest film, “Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson” is a documentary based on Thompson and his “Gonzo” style of journalism. Gibney is currently at work on “Freakonomics,” a film version of the bestselling book by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner. Back to Arts & Lecture
