Solemn & Sublime: Contemporary American Figurative Painting

This exhibition was inspired by the 2009 publication of Selected Contemporary American Figurative Painters, a catalogue edited by Qimin Liu, Associate Professor of Art, Painting & Drawing. Liu, who was born in Heilongjiang Province, China and recently received his American citizenship, has received national recognition for his figurative painting. He exhibits in Solemn & Sublime with twelve other prominent American figurative painters. This exhibition was co-curated by Professor Liu and Akus Gallery director Elizabeth Peterson.
