Student Responsibilities

Student Responsibilities

Advising requires both student and advisor to work together closely. As a student, it is up to you to set your goals and determine how to carry out your future plans. The closer you and your advisor work together, the more successful your advising session will be. As an advisee, your responsibilities are as follows:

  • Be accountable for decisions and academic outcomes.
  • Become familiar with academic policies and procedures listed in the Eastern Connecticut State University Catalog. (To view catalog, click here)
  • Know your advisor’s name and his/her office hours.
  • Check your Eastern e-mail account daily.
  • Share your academic and personal goals with your advisor.
  • Come prepared for your appointment (course ideas, questions, etc.).
  • Take initiative and ask questions.
  • Ask advisors for help, when needed.
  • Become familiar with the academic calendar.
